El zoológico

The Zoo

El director de la escuela de Chris ha organizado una excursión por los alumnos de edades de ocho a trece. Ellos van a un zoológico que está a treinta kilómetros de distancia. Sus profesores de biología e historia ya los están esperando en la parada del autobús. Es una aventura para los cuarenta estudiantes que están felices de no estar en su clase.

The headteacher at Chris' school has organised a day trip for the schoolchildren aged eight to thirteen. They go to a zoo which is thirty kilometres away. Their biology and history teachers are already waiting for them at the bus stop. It is an adventure for the forty pupils who are happy to not be in their classroom.

Los maestros marcan el nombre de cada niño en su lista. Era un día con mucha niebla, pero ahora la niebla se ha ido y solo está un poco nublado.

The teachers tick off the name of each child on their list. It was very foggy, but now the fog is gone and it's only a bit cloudy.

Llegan al aparcamiento del zoológico. Los maestros le dan al vendedor un sobre con sus tickets.

They arrive at the car park of the zoo. The teachers give the salesperson an envelope with their tickets.

Los niños ven a los osos, elefantes, monos, leones, tigres y jirafas. Luego van a las jaulas de las aves y a Chris gusta el gran águila.

The kids see the bears, elephants, monkeys, lions, tigers and giraffes. Then they go to the bird cages and Chris likes the large eagle.

A la hora del almuerzo, los niños quieren algunos snacks. Hay un pequeño restaurante que ofrece refrescos y platos de pasta. Los maestros piden pasta con salsa de crema, champiñones y cebolla. No hay otros clientes en el restaurante y el chef se acerca a su mesa a charlar.

At lunchtime, the children want some snacks. There is a little restaurant which offers refreshments and pasta dishes. The teachers order pasta with cream, mushroom and onion sauce. There are no other customers in the restaurant and the chef comes over to their table for a chat.

“Hoy el restaurante está vacío, pero a los fines de semana estamos sirviendo noventa comidas por hora. Vendo varios kilos de filetes cada día. "

“Today the restaurant is empty, but on the weekends we are serving ninety meals per hour. I sell several kilos of steak every day.”

Después del almuerzo, los niños juegan en el patio de juego.

After lunch, the children play at the playground.

Después van a otra parte del zoológico para acariciar animales más pequeños, como ponis y conejos. Un cuidador del zoológico les dice que guarden silencio cerca de los animales.

Then they go to another part of the zoo to pet the smaller animals, such as ponies and rabbits. A zoo keeper tells them to keep quiet close to the animals.

Un par de chicas están pidiendo permiso para montar en un burro. Una de las chicas cae en la suciedad.

A couple of girls have asked for permission to ride on a donkey. One of the girls falls down into the dirt.

After some time, the teacher tells them:

Me temo que tenemos que ir directamente al autobús, se está haciendo tarde. El conductor ya está al volante y puede recibir una multa si no se va ahora. "

“I am afraid we have to go directly to the bus, it is getting late. The driver is already behind the wheel and might get a fine if he doesn’t depart now.”
