The Zoo

Il preside della scuola di Chris haorganizzato una gita per scolari dagli otto ai tredici anni. Vanno in uno zoo che dista trenta chilometri. I loro insegnanti di biologia e storia li stanno già aspettando alla fermata dell'autobus. È un'avventura per i quaranta studenti che sono felici di non essere in classe.

The headteacher at Chris' school has organised a day trip for the schoolchildren aged eight to thirteen. They go to a zoo which is thirty kilometres away. Their biology and history teachers are already waiting for them at the bus stop. It is an adventure for the forty pupils who are happy to not be in their classroom.

Gli insegnanti spuntano il nome di ogni bambino nel loro elenco. Era molto nebbioso, ma ora non c'è più nebbia ed è solo un po' nuvoloso.

The teachers tick off the name of each child on their list. It was very foggy, but now the fog is gone and it's only a bit cloudy.

Arrivano al parcheggio dello zoo. Gli insegnanti consegnano all'addetto alle vendite una busta con i loro biglietti.

They arrive at the car park of the zoo. The teachers give the salesperson an envelope with their tickets.

I bambini vedono orsi, elefanti, scimmie, leoni, tigri e giraffe. Poi vanno alle gabbie dei volatili e a Chris piace la grande aquila.

The kids see the bears, elephants, monkeys, lions, tigers and giraffes. Then they go to the bird cages and Chris likes the large eagle.

All'ora di pranzo, i bambini vogliono degli spuntini. C'è un piccolo ristorante che offre stuzzichini e piatti di pasta. Gli insegnanti ordinano la pasta con panna, funghi e sala di cipolle. Non ci sono altri clienti nel ristorante e lo chef va al loro tavolo per una chiaccherata.

At lunchtime, the children want some snacks. There is a little restaurant which offers refreshments and pasta dishes. The teachers order pasta with cream, mushroom and onion sauce. There are no other customers in the restaurant and the chef comes over to their table for a chat.

“Oggi il ristorante è vuoto, ma nei fine settimana serviamo novanta pasti all'ora. Vendo diversi chili di bistecca ogni giorno. "

“Today the restaurant is empty, but on the weekends we are serving ninety meals per hour. I sell several kilos of steak every day.”

Dopo pranzo, i bambini giocano nel parco giochi.

After lunch, the children play at the playground.

Quindi vanno in un'altra parte dello zoo per accarezzare gli animali più piccoli, come pony e conigli. Un guardiano dello zoo chiede loro di far silenzio vicino agli animali.

Then they go to another part of the zoo to pet the smaller animals, such as ponies and rabbits. A zoo keeper tells them to keep quiet close to the animals.

Alcune ragazze chiedono il permesso di cavalcare un asino. Una delle ragazze cade nella polvere.

A couple of girls have asked for permission to ride on a donkey. One of the girls falls down into the dirt.
