C1 The Interview

本今天在文学部工作。一位著名作家要来他们这里谈一谈他的新小说 。

Běn jīntiān zài wénxué bù gōngzuò. Yí wèi zhùmíng zuòjiā yào lái tāmen zhèlǐ tán yì tán tā de xīn xiǎoshuō.

Ben is working for the literature section today. A famous writer is in town to talk about his new novel.

劳拉很嫉妒因为她是他的一大粉丝。能够面对面地见到他是她的梦想。

Láolā hěn jídù yīnwèi tā shì tā de yí dà fěnsī. Nénggòu miànduìmiàn de jiàndào tā shì tā de mèngxiǎng.

Laura is jealous since she is a big fan of him. It is her dream to meet him face to face.

“哦，本，他绝对是我最喜欢的作者。”  

“Ó, Běn, tā juéduì shì wǒ zuì xǐhuān de zuòzhě.”  

“Oh Ben, he's my absolute favourite author.”

“我知道你对他想入非非。好吧，我不能怪你。他很英俊。”   

“ Wǒ zhīdào nǐ duì tā xiǎngrùfēifēi. Hǎo ba, wǒ bùnéng guài nǐ. Tā hěn yīngjùn.”   

“I know you fancy him. Well, I can't blame you. He's very handsome.”

劳拉有些尴尬。她希望能私下见他，但她知道这是不现实的。

Láolā yǒuxiē gāngà. Tā xīwàng néng sīxià jiàn tā, dàn tā zhīdào zhè shì bú xiànshí de

Laura is a bit embarrassed. Her wish is to meet him in private but she knows that that is unrealistic.

“我承认他长得相当迷人，但是是他的写作风格引起了我的注意。他真的给了我很多灵感。我尤其喜欢他写的人物。例如，他之前小说中的侦探：他对他的描述非常真实。这个侦探代理人已经成为一个他的读者非常熟悉的人”   

“ Wǒ chéngrèn tā zhǎng dé xiāngdāng mírén, dànshì shì tā de xiězuò fēnggé yǐnqǐle wǒ de zhùyì. Tā zhēn de gěile wǒ hěnduō línggǎn. Wǒ yóuqí xǐhuān tā xiě de rénwù. Lìrú, tā zhīqián xiǎoshuō zhōng de zhēntàn: Tā duì tā de miáoshù fēicháng zhēnshí. Zhège zhēntàn dàilǐrén yǐjīng chéngwéi yígè tā de dúzhě fēicháng shúxī de rén”   

“I admit that he's fairly attractive, but it's his writing style that attracted my attention. He's a real inspiration for me. I like his characters in particular. For example, the detective from his previous novel: his description of him was very authentic. That agent was a person the readers were already very familiar with.”

“老实说，我觉得这本书很无聊。这书过于复杂因此难以阅读。欢迎你来做这个采访。这是我为此准备的问卷。”  

“ Lǎoshí shuō, wǒ juédé zhè běn shū hěn wúliáo. Zhè shū guòyú fùzá yīncǐ nányǐ yuèdú. Huānyíng nǐ lái zuò zhège cǎifǎng. Zhè shì wǒ wèi cǐ zhǔnbèi de wènjuàn.”  

“Honestly, I found that book rather boring. It was too complicated and therefore hard to read. You're welcome to do the interview. Here's the questionnaire I've prepared for it.”

劳拉高兴地差点就要掉眼泪了。多亏了本，她现在就要见到自己的偶像了。

Láolā gāoxìng de chàdiǎn jiù yào diào yǎnlèile. Duōkuīle Běn, tā xiànzài jiù yào jiàndào zìjǐ de ǒuxiàngle.

Laura almost bursts into tears of joy. Thanks to Ben she is now going to meet her idol.

“你在开玩笑，本。我的梦想会实现。我是他的忠实粉丝。”  

“ Nǐ zài kāiwánxiào, Běn. Wǒ de mèngxiǎng huì shíxiàn. Wǒ shì tā de zhōngshí fěnsī.”  

“You’re joking, Ben. My dream would come true. I'm such a devoted fan of him.”

“对我来说，不得不写关于他的事真的很烦人。我想专心准备我的野生动物考察。我一个月内就要开始做了。”   

“ Duì wǒ láishuō, bùdébù xiě guānyú tā de shì zhēn de hěn fánrén. Wǒ xiǎng zhuānxīn zhǔnbèi wǒ de yěshēng dòngwù kǎochá. Wǒ yígè yuè nèi jiù yào kāishǐ zuòle.”   

“For me, it's annoying that I have to write about him. I want to concentrate on the wildlife expedition. I'm doing that in a month’s time.”

“谢谢，本。我的采访会根据他的传记来做的。”  

“ Xièxiè, Běn. Wǒ de cǎifǎng huì gēnjù tā de zhuànjì lái zuò de.”  

“Thank you, Ben. My interview will be based on his biography.”

“你应该写下其他几点。他现在正在写一本关于战争的书。书里写了一些普通的士兵和军官，他们在打仗的时候非常英勇，但最后却发现自己坐进了轮椅里。标题是“ 死亡的阴影。”    

“ Nǐ yīnggāi xiě xià qítā jǐ diǎn. Tā xiànzài zhèngzài xiě yì běn guānyú zhànzhēng de shū. Shū lǐ xiěle yìxiē pǔtōng de shìbīng hé jūnguān, tāmen zài dǎzhàng de shíhòu fēicháng yīngyǒng, dàn zuìhòu què fāxiàn zìjǐ zuò jìnle lúnyǐ lǐ. Biāotí shì “ sǐwáng de yīnyǐng.”    

“You should write down a couple of other points. He's working on a book about the war. It's about ordinary soldiers and officers who fought bravely in the war but found themselves in a wheelchair afterwards. The title is ‘Shadow of Death’.”

“那段时期是一个恶梦！我的祖父也在那个时候受了伤。从那以后他的腿里一直留着一颗子弹。整个一代人都不得不重建他们的生活。我的祖父母现在看起来很快乐，但是祖父当年回来时很消沉。他花了很长一段时间来恢复。”   

“ Nà duàn shíqí shì yígè èmèng! Wǒ de zǔfù yě zài nàgè shíhòu shòule shāng. Cóng nà yǐhòu tā de tuǐ lǐ yìzhí liúzhe yì kē zǐdàn. Zhěnggè yí dài rén dōu bùdébù chóngjiàn tāmen de shēnghuó. Wǒ de zǔfùmǔ xiànzài kànqǐlái hěn kuàilè, dànshì zǔfù dāngnián huílái shí hěn xiāochén. Tā huāle hěn zhǎng yíduàn shíjiān lái huīfù.”   

“That period was a nightmare! My grandfather was injured too. He had a bullet in his leg ever since. An entire generation had to rebuild their lives. My grandparents seem happy today, but my grandpa was depressed when he returned. It took him quite a while to recover.”

“是的，他们受了很多苦。他们捍卫了整个社会和他们的价值观。他们的青春被偷走了。”  

“ Shì de, tāmen shòule hěn duō kǔ. Tāmen hànwèile zhěnggè shèhuì hé tāmen de jiàzhíguān. Tāmen de qīngchūn bèi tōu zǒule.”  

“Yes, they have suffered a lot. They defended society and their values.  Their youth has been stolen.”

“很可惜关于这个事大家一直都保持安静。这位作家一般都是写一些很浅，很有娱乐性的故事，但这一次他故意决定不写那样的了。”   

“ Hěn kěxí guānyú zhè ge shì dàjiā yìzhí dōu bǎochí ānjìng. Zhè wèi zuòjiā yìbān dōushì xiě yìxiē hěn qiǎn, hěn yǒu yúlè xìng de gùshì, dàn zhè yícì tā gùyì juédìng bù xiě nàyàng dele.”   

“It's a shame that there's so much silence about this. His stories are, in general, quite shallow and entertaining but the writer made a deliberate decision to not write one of them.”

“我认为这是一个例外。他现在正在着手写一个完全不同的故事。他在写我们祖先里的一些人反对皇家住宅前的纪念碑的事。”  

“ Wǒ rènwéi zhè shì yígè lìwài. Tā xiànzài zhèngzài cóngshì xiě yígè wánquán bùtóng de gùshì. Tā zài xiě wǒmen zǔxiān lǐ de yìxiē rén fǎnduì huángjiā zhùzhái qián de jìniànbēi de shì.”  

“I think this was a one-off. He's now working on a totally different story again. He's writing about our ancestors who were opposed to the monument in front of the royal residence.”

“那确实有很大的不同。你认为你能和他确认到新书的主题吗？”  

“ Nà quèshí yǒu hěn dà de bùtóng.Nǐ rènwéi nǐ néng hé tā quèrèndào xīnshū de zhǔtí ma?”  

“That is indeed something very different. Do you think he'll confirm that he's working on that?”

“我推测他会的，但是同时认真采访两个话题可能会很难对付。”  

“ Wǒ tuīcè tā huì de, dànshì tóngshí rènzhēn cǎifǎng liǎng gè huàtí kěnéng huì hěn nán duìfù.”  

“I suppose he will, but it'll be difficult to deal with both topics seriously at the same time.”

“我可以从有关那部战争小说的问题入手。让他评论一下，然后就在采访结束前，我会转向另一个话题。然后他可以决定说什么。”

“I could start with questions about the war novel. I'll let him comment on it, and only turn to the other topic just before the end of the interview. Then he can decide what he says.”

“我猜你可以做到，但最好是，你把重点放在那个战争小说上。反正我不认为你可以把两个文章联系起来。”  

“ Wǒ cāi nǐ kěyǐ zuòdào, dàn zuì hǎo shì, nǐ bǎ zhòngdiǎn fàng zài nàgè zhànzhēng xiǎoshuō shàng. Fǎnzhèng wǒ bú rènwéi nǐ kěyǐ bǎ liǎng gè wénzhāng liánxìqǐlái.”  

“I guess you could, but ideally you'll place the emphasis on the war novel. I don't think you can link the two in one article anyhow.”

“那倒是真的。此外我可以顺便利用这个时机请他在新书宣传的首发活动上再次让我采访他。”

“ Nà dǎoshì zhēn de. Cǐwài wǒ kěyǐ shùnbiàn lìyòng zhège shíjī qǐng tā zài xīnshū xuānchuán de shǒufā huódòng shàng zàicì ràng wǒ cǎifǎng tā.”  

“That's true. Furthermore I may well use the opportunity to offer him a second meeting at the launch of the book campaign.”

“哦，劳拉！只是因为你想再次见到他吧！”  

“ Ó, Láolā! Zhǐshì yīnwèi nǐ xiǎng zàicì jiàndào tā ba!”  

“Oh Laura! Just because you want to meet him again!”
