C2 A dona de casa

C2 The Housewife

Anna está na cozinha quando Ben chega em casa. Ela está tirando potes, panelas e talheres da máquina de lavar louça e os lava na pia.

Anna is in the kitchen when Ben comes home. She is taking pots, pans and cutlery out of the dishwasher and washing them in the sink.

“Ei, o que está acontecendo aqui? Você faz isso por diversão? ”

“Hey, what's going on here? Are you doing this for fun?”

“Temos que consertar a máquina de lavar louça. Ela parou e saiu fumaça.”

“We need to have the dishwasher repaired. It stopped working and smoke was coming out of it.”

“Deixe-me ligar para a proprietária. Afinal, ela ou a imobiliária precisa fazer isso. ”

“Let me call the landlady. After all, it's her or the agency who need to do this.”

“Obrigada, Ben! Enquanto isso, vou procurar uma receita para o jantar. ”

“Thanks, Ben! Meanwhile, I'll look for a recipe for dinner.”

“O que você comprou no mercado?”

“What did you buy at the market?”

“Comprei carne orgânica, repolho, abobrinhas, pepinos e azeitonas.”

“I bought organic beef, cabbage, courgettes, cucumbers and olives.”

“Ah, maravilha! Vamos fazer uma sopa de abobrinha esta noite? ”

“Ah, marvellous! Shall we make a courgette soup tonight?”

“Sim, vou começar a fazer isso. Você poderia comprar pão amanhã? Não temos farinha, senão eu mesma faria o pão. ”

“Yes, I'll get started on that. Could you buy some bread tomorrow? We don't have flour, otherwise I'd bake it myself.”

“Eu pensei que você odiasse o trabalho doméstico?”

“I thought you hated housework?”

“Li um artigo sobre como criar um ambiente agradável em casa. Então desliguei meu computador de bom grado e decidi fazer um jantar para nós esta noite. Eu teria conseguido, mas então a máquina de lavar louça explodiu. ”

“I read an article about how to create a nice atmosphere at home. Then I willingly turned off my computer  and decided to make dinner for us tonight. I would have pulled it off but then the dishwasher exploded.”

“Oh Anna, deixe-me abraçá-la. Eu quero me desculpar com você. Dia após dia, tiro sarro de você por odiar o trabalho doméstico, mas gosto do nosso acordo. Devemos ambos ter como objetivo estar juntos, o máximo possível.”

“Oh Anna, let me embrace you. I want to apologise to you. Day after day I make fun of you for hating housework, but I do like our arrangement. We should both aim to be together as much as possible.

“Você se lembra do parente do Marc? Seu carro pegou fogo ontem e ardeu em chamas. O carro foi completamente destruído, mas ele escapou ileso. ”

"Do you remember Marc’s relative? His car caught fire yesterday and burned down. The car was completely destroyed but he escaped unharmed.”

“Lembro-me dele, é uma história realmente assustadora. Ele ainda está super gordo? Não o vejo há anos. ”

“I remember him, that's a truly frightening story. Is he still so fat? I haven't seen him for years.”

“Sim, ele está! A obesidade é uma grande crise hoje. As pessoas estão levando isso muito levianamente e é apenas uma questão de tempo que isso saia do controle.”

“Yes, he is! Obesity's a big crisis today. People take it too lightly and it’s only a matter of time before it gets out of control.

“Quando eu estava naquele cruzeiro com meus pais, muitas pessoas já estavam acima do peso, mas continuavam comendo o tempo todo.”

"When I was on that cruise with my parents, a lot of people were already overweight but kept eating all the time.”

“É isso, a comida a bordo está incluída na tarifa e todos comem continuamente até caírem na cama à noite. A mesma coisa acontece em hotéis com tudo incluso, é tão bobo.”

“That’s it, the food on board is included in the fare and everybody eats steadily till they drop into bed at night. The same thing happens in all inclusive hotels, it’s so silly.

“A maioria das pessoas não sabe o quão importante é uma dieta bem balanceada. ”

"Most people are unaware of how important a well-balanced diet is.”

“É verdade, mas na verdade também é ridículo o quão caros alguns produtos se tornaram. Você precisa ser rico para poder comprá-los. Eu paguei muito hoje no açougue. Então, no caixa do supermercado, fiquei surpresa com o quão caras eram essas frutas vermelhas que comprei para nossas panquecas de amanhã de manhã. ”

“True, but in fact it also is ridiculous how expensive some goods have become. You need to be wealthy to afford them. I paid so much today at the butcher’s. Then at the checkout in the supermarket I was surprised at how expensive the berries I bought for our pancakes tomorrow morning were.”

“A industrialização tornou a maior parte dos alimentos tão baratos, mas há coisas difíceis de produzir em grandes quantidades.”

“Industrialisation has made the bulk of food so cheap, but there are some things which are hard to produce in big quantities.”
