Ben e Anna hanno deciso di scrivere un blog sulle loro vite. Pensano al pubblico che vogliono raggiungere. Ben scrive un breve elenco di argomenti che potrebbero trattare.

Ben and Anna have decided to blog about their lives. They are thinking about the audience they want to reach. Ben writes down a brief list of topics they could cover.

“Potremmo fare delle escursioni - è economico. Potremmo ad esempio andare nel deserto! Immagina quali foto divine potremmo scattare, magari durante un giro sul cammello. Penso che sembreresti graziosa su un cammello, da sola nella solitudine del deserto con un cielo cristallino. "

"We could do some backpacking trips - that's inexpensive. We could go to the desert, for example! Imagine what heavenly pictures we could take, maybe on a camel ride. I think you would look graceful on a camel, alone in the solitude of the desert with crystal clear skies."

Finirei solo per perdere l'equilibrio, cadere e avere un grosso bernoccolo in testa. Anche l'infrastruttura lì è inadeguata

“I would just lose my balance, fall down and get a large bump on my head. The infrastructure there is also inadequate.“

 Lo so. Dalla rivoluzione hanno fissato dei limiti per il trasporto di turisti. Il paese non è più molto ospitale. 

“I know. Since the revolution, they put limits on tourist transportation. The country's not very hospitable anymore.

Perché stai cercando di convincermi? Nel caso in cui te ne fossi dimenticato, oggi evito i viaggi scomodi. Mio padre è un escursionista e lo facevamo regolarmente quando ero bambina.

“Why are you trying to convince me of it? In case you forgot, I avoid uncomfortable trips today. My dad is a backpacker and it's something we did regularly when I was a child.”

Ho dimenticato quanto odi i campeggi. Ma non ho idea di come potremmo permetterci viaggi frequenti con i nostri fondi limitati altrimenti. 

“I forgot how much you dislike campsites. But I just have no idea how we could afford frequent trips with our limited funds otherwise.”

Dobbiamo fare un calcolo preciso e includere tutti i costi associati. Vorrei provare a trovare offerte economiche. Voglio solo uno standard minimo decente, non ho bisogno del lusso. Invece di concentrarci solo sul turismo, potremmo anche avere una gamma più ampia di argomenti. Il nostro vantaggio è che scrivi così bene. Gli altri pubblicano solo belle foto ma noi possiamo anche pubblicare articoli più seri.

“We have to do a precise calculation and include all related costs as well. Let me attempt to find some cheap deals. I would just like a decent minimum standard, I don't need luxury. Instead of only focussing on tourism, we could also have a broader range of topics. Our advantage is that you're so  good at writing. Other people are only publishing pretty pictures but we can also post more serious articles.”

Pensi che i lettori siano interessati a questo genere di cose? "

“Do you think the readers are interested in that kind of thing?”

Ovviamente dovremo scoprirlo. 

“Obviously we have to find out.“

“Io mi occuperò della tecnologia. Il mio nuovo tablet ha un programma di grafica che posso usare per progettare il logo. "

“I'll take care of the technology. My new tablet has a graphics software that I can use to design the logo.”

Sarebbe fantastico. Odio creare questi layout, ma tu sei davvero un designer di talento.

“That would be terrific. I hate creating these types of layouts, but you're really a talented designer.”

Quando lanciamo e come promuoviamo il sito? "

“When do we do the launch and how can we promote the site?”

Personalmente, penso che la nostra migliore opzione sia quella di fare pubblicità sui social media. Molte persone ne sono davvero dipendenti. Quindi possiamo pubblicare commenti spiritosi o meglio ancora, questa foto che ho scattato all'alba mentre facevo trekking la scorsa settimana.

“Personally, I think our best option is to advertise on social media. Lots of people are really addicted to that. Then we could post some witty comments or, better still, that picture I took at dawn during the trekking last week.”

Permettetemi di modificarlo un po'. Penso che possiamo rendere più vivido il riflesso del tuo profilo nell'acqua. I siti che appartengono ad altri blogger lo fanno pesantemente. 

“Let me edit it a bit. I think we can make the reflection of your profile in the water more vivid. Sites that belong to other bloggers do that heavily.”

Questo è un buon inizio. Andiamoci piano per ora. La mia opinione è che dobbiamo caricare più materiale prima che sia ora di pensare al marketing.

“That's a good start. Let's take it easy for now. My opinion is that it's time to upload more material, not to think about marketing.”

Anna si alza per prendere una caraffa dal bancone della cucina e si versa un bicchiere d'acqua. Ben si unisce a lei, mette il bollitore sul fuoco e prepara il tè. Tornato al PC, Ben digita la sua password per accedere e cerca su Google:

Anna gets up to fetch a jug from the kitchen counter and pours herself a glass of water. Ben joins her, puts on the kettle and makes tea.Back at the PC, Ben types in his password to log in and googles:

Guarda questo sito, ci sono molti utenti e mandano persino una newsletter. Portano le loro videocamere in luoghi diversi, fanno registrazioni lì e poi le modificano nel loro studio. 

“Look at this website, it has a lot of users and they even send out a newsletter. They take their webcam to different locations and do recordings there, and later edit them in their studio.”

Ben apre il browser dal desktop e cerca i segnalibri.

Ben opens his browser from his desktop and looks for bookmarks.

“Questo sito ha anche alcune funzionalità interattive. A prima vista sembra un po' disorganizzato, ma la combinazione di queste varie storie con la pubblicità è l'ideale per i consumatori. "

“This site also has some interactive features. It might be a bit disorganised at first sight but the combination of these diverse stories with the commercials is ideal for consumers.”

Hanno un ottimo mix di sponsor, dalle telecomunicazioni al venditore di auto regionale. Questo aiuta enormemente nella crescita del sito. Hanno persino pubblicità di un produttore di armi da fuoco, ma penso che sarebbe inappropriato per il nostro sito.

“Yes, they're getting a very good mixture of sponsors, from telecommunications to regional car salesmen. That helps the growth of the site tremendously. They even have some advertisements from a gun manufacturer, but I think that would be unsuitable for our site.“
