C6 The marriage

Sophia et Marc se marient. C'est le premier mariage auquel Anna et Ben assistent ensemble. Les mariés ont choisi un lieu romantique pour leur célébration: un château au-dessus d’une vallée avec une vue magnifique sur la rivière qui coule en contrebas et une cascade.

Sophia and Marc are marrying. It is the first wedding Anna and Ben are attending together. The bride and groom have chosen a romantic location for their celebration: a castle above a valley, with wonderful views of the river which flows below and a waterfall.

Sophia porte une robe traditionnelle. Anna embrasse Sophia qui salue les invités à l'entrée.

Sophia wears a traditional dress. Anna hugs Sophia who is greeting the guests at the entry.

« Sophia, tu ressembles à un mannequin. La robe est sublime. Ces minuscules boutons scintillants et la soie sont vraiment magnifiques. La longueur met merveilleusement en valeur tes chaussures. Est-ce que tu t’es coiffée toi-même ou est-ce tu as fait appel à un coiffeur ? Au fait, j'ai apporté mon bracelet ancien, juste au cas où tu veux le porter. »

“Sophia, you look like a model. The dress is gorgeous. These tiny sparkling buttons and the silk are really beautiful. The length highlights your shoes beautifully. Did you do your hair yourself or did you have a hairdresser? By the way, I did bring my antique bracelet, just in case you want to wear it.”

« Oh Anna, merci beaucoup ! Je suis si nerveuse. Je suis terrifiée à l’idée que quelque chose tourne mal aujourd'hui. J'espère que Marc a les bagues. Il a dû y penser et les a mises de coté. »

“Oh Anna, thank you so much! I'm so nervous! I'm terrified that something will go wrong today. I hope Marc has the rings. He must have thought of them and put them away.”

« Je vais le lui rappeler. L'architecture du château est absolument spectaculaire. Je suis vraiment étonné de ce que tu as accompli depuis l'annonce de l'engagement. »

“I'll remind him of it. The architecture of the castle is absolutely spectacular. I'm really amazed at what you've achieved since the engagement announcement.”

Sophia est en larmes.

Sophia is in tears.

« Je prie Dieu pour que tout aille bien. Il y aura un concert de violon et tous les membres du groupe ne sont pas encore arrivés. »

“I pray to God that everything will be fine. There's going to be a violin concert and not all members of the band have arrived yet.”

« Je n’ai pas de doute qu'ils vont arriver à l’heure. Ne fais pas de crise cardiaque, votre amour est la chose la plus importante aujourd’hui. »

“I have no doubt that they'll arrive on time. Don’t have a heart attack, your love is the most important thing today.”

« Dieu merci, tu es là ! Ça m'aide à rester calme. Le stress est insoutenable. »

“Thank God you're here! It helps me to remain calm. The stress is just overwhelming.”

« Tu fais bien. Naturellement, tu es effrayée, comme c'est ton premier mariage. Apres quelques divorces, il deviendra beaucoup plus facile d'organiser l'événement. »

“You're doing well. Naturally you're frightened, it's your first wedding after all. After a couple of divorces, it'll become much easier to organise the event.”

Un sourire apparaît sur le visage de Sophia.

A smile appears on Sophia’s face.

« Tu peux garder un secret ? En ce moment, Marc pourrait me tromper que je continuerais notre relation de toute façon. »

“Can you keep a secret? Right now, Marc could cheat on me and I would continue our relationship anyway.”

« Vivement que tu n’aies jamais à faire face à cette question. Il ne te décevra jamais comme ça. » Anna dit avec confiance.

“Hopefully, you'll never have to face that question. He'll never disappoint you like that,” Anna says confidently

Un homme bien habillé s'approche d'elles. Il respire lourdement.

A well-dressed man approaches them. He is breathing heavily.

« Pardon ! Je suis le guitariste. Pouvez-vous me dire où sont les autres musiciens ? »

“Pardon me! I'm the guitarist.  Can you tell me where the other musicians are?”

« Ils se préparent à l'intérieur sur la piste de danse. »

“They're preparing themselves inside, on the dance floor.”

La cérémonie commence et Sophia et Marc font leurs vœux. Lorsque Sophia est priée d' obéir à Marc, le public éclate de rire.

The ceremony starts and Sophia and Marc take their vows. When Sophia is asked to obey Marc, there is laughter in the audience.

Quand Sophia et Marc sont déclarés mari et femme, un petit chiot apparaît soudainement et commence à aboyer. Marc le soulève et le donne à Sophia.

When Sophia and Marc are declared husband and wife, a little puppy appears suddenly and starts barking. Marc lifts him up and passes him over to Sophia.

« Il ne sait pas encore comment bien se comporter, mais ce petit monstre nous apportera du bonheur. Il est le premier membre de notre nouvelle famille. »

“He doesn't know how to behave yet, but this little monster will bring us happiness. He's the first member of our new family.”

Sophia ne peut arrêter ses larmes de joie et Anna doit lui passer un mouchoir.

Sophia cannot stop her tears of joy and Anna has to hand her a tissue.

« Appelons le tonnerre. Il a un talent pour interrompre. »

“Let's call him Thunder! He has a talent for interrupting.”

À la fin de la nuit, les invités sortent au clair de lune pour voir le feu d'artifice.

At the end of the night, the guests go outside in the moonlight to see the fireworks.

Initialement, Sophia et Marc avaient planifié leur lune de miel directement après le mariage, mais finalement ils ont décidé qu’ils n'allaient partir que dans quinze jours.

Originally, Sophia and Marc had scheduled the honeymoon directly after the wedding, but now they have decided that they will only leave in a fortnight.
