C8 The Documentary

Le han pedido a Ben que entreviste a un cineasta que está en la ciudad. Llega con entusiasmado al set de grabación. Está ansioso por entrevistar al director que ha lanzado recientemente un exitoso drama, su mejor hasta ahora.

Ben has been asked to interview a film-maker who is in town. He arrives at the film set excitedly. He is looking forward to interviewing the director who recently released a successful drama - his best yet.

"Soy reportero de City News y estoy aquí para ver al director. "

“I'm a reporter at City News and I'm here to see the director.”

La asistente echa un vistazo sus notas y se muerde el labio.

The assistant glances at her notes and bites her lip.

"No te tengo en mi lista. ¿Quién fijó la fecha para esto? "

“I don't have you on my list. Who set the date for this?”

"Tal vez la secretaria se equivocó. Pero intercambié correos electrónicos con el director durante días sobre los temas. No hay duda de que me está esperando. "

“Maybe the secretary got it wrong. But I've exchanged emails with the director for days about the topics. There's no doubt that he's expecting me.”

"Bueno, está bien, déjame apuntar tu apellido y llevarte al director. "

“Ok, fine, let me write down your surname and bring you to the director.”

Ben sigue al anciano guardia al set en el que el equipo de grabación está trabajando hoy. Un puñado de personas están en el césped frente a un viejo edificio. Ben reconoce inmediatamente al director, un hombre de mediana edad con cabello negro.

Ben follows the elderly guard to the set on which the crew is working today. A bunch of people are on a lawn in front of an old tenement. Ben recognises the director, a middle-aged dark haired man, straight away.

Él se da cuenta de la llegada de Ben y viene a saludarlo. Se dan la mano.

He notices Ben’s arrival and comes over to greet him. They shake hands.

"Usted debe ser el señor Dast. Has llegado a tiempo, pero ¿podrías esperar un momento mientras que terminamos esta escena? "

“You must be Mr Dast. You've arrived right on time, but could you wait a moment while we finish this scene?”

"No hay problema, esperaré por aquí."

“No problem, I’ll wait over here.”

"¡Te lo agradezco! Nos tomará otros 15 minutos aproximadamente, entonces podremos charlar."

“Thank you! It'll take approximately another 15 minutes, then we can chat.”

Ben mira con fascinación mientras se filma la escena. Un hombre, vestido como un cartero, ha sido identificado como un espía enemigo. Lleva una máscara y habla jerga. Tras un disparo, cae al suelo y rueda pendiente abajo. Todos aplauden y Ben aprovecha la oportunidad para hablar con el director.

Ben watches with fascination as the scene is filmed. A man, who is dressed as a postman, has been identified as an enemy spy. He wears a mask and speaks in slang. After a shot is fired, he falls to the ground and rolls down a slope. Everybody applauds and Ben grabs the opportunity to speak to the director.

"Eso ha sido realmente impresionante. "

“That was very impressive.”

"Un verdadero thriller, ¿verdad? Pero esto no es ficción, cosas así sucedieron de verdad, aunque el público no siempre aprende sobre ellas. Lo creas o no, este espía estaba escondiéndose en la ciudad hace 20 años y fue rastreado antes de que pudiera volar este bloque de pisos con una bomba."

“A real thriller, isn’t it? But this isn't fiction, things like these really happened, although the public doesn’t always learn about them. Believe it or not, this spy was indeed in hiding in town 20 years ago and was hunted down before he could blow up this block with a bomb.”

¡Eso es sorprendente! ¿Por qué querría bombardear viviendas sociales?

“That's shocking! Why would he want to bomb social housing?”

“En este bloque, había una tienda de caridad, pero también un laboratorio militar. Los científicos se reunían aquí en secreto y trabajaban en su nueva invención de ingeniería. Paso a paso trabajaron en la reproducción de un satélite que podría ser usado como arma.  Cesaron su trabajo después de que un trabajador corrupto compartiera información confidencial con la prensa. Tras eso hubo una oleada de acusaciones y  se ordenó una revisión completa. "

“In this block, there was a charity shop but also a military laboratory. Scientists secretly met there and worked on their new invention in engineering. Step by step, they worked on the reproduction of a satellite which could be used as a weapon. They ceased work here after a corrupt worker shared confidential information with the press. After that, there was a wave of accusations and a full review was ordered.”

“Eso suena como ciencia ficción para mí. ¡Qué tontería! "

“That sounds like science fiction to me. What nonsense!”

“Muchas de estas cosas están ocultas al público. Hay pistas pero normalmente pasan desapercibidas, de lo contrario habría sido un gran escándalo. "

“A lot of these things are hidden from the public. There are hints but they usually go unnoticed, or else it would've been a big scandal.”
