C8 The Documentary

A Ben è stato chiesto di intervistare un regista che è in città. Arriva entusiasta sul set cinematografico. Non vede l'ora di intervistare il regista che ha recentemente rilasciato un film di successo - il suo lavoro migliore fin'ora.

Ben has been asked to interview a film-maker who is in town. He arrives at the film set excitedly. He is looking forward to interviewing the director who recently released a successful drama - his best yet.

Sono un giornalista di City News e sono qui per vedere il regista.

“I'm a reporter at City News and I'm here to see the director.”

L'assistente dà un'occhiata ai suoi appunti e si morde il labbro.

The assistant glances at her notes and bites her lip.

Non ti ho nella mia lista. Chi ha fissato la data per questo? "

“I don't have you on my list. Who set the date for this?”

Forse il segretario si è sbagliato. Ma ho scambiato e-mail con il regista per giorni riguardo argomenti. Non c'è dubbio che mi stia aspettando. 

“Maybe the secretary got it wrong. But I've exchanged emails with the director for days about the topics. There's no doubt that he's expecting me.”

Okay, lasciami scrivere il tuo cognome e portarti dal regista. "

“Ok, fine, let me write down your surname and bring you to the director.”

Ben segue una guardia anziana sul set su cui la troupe cinematografica sta lavorando oggi. Un gruppo di persone è su un prato di fronte a un vecchio edificio. Ben riconosce immediatamente il regista, un uomo di mezza età con i capelli scuri.

Ben follows the elderly guard to the set on which the crew is working today. A bunch of people are on a lawn in front of an old tenement. Ben recognises the director, a middle-aged dark haired man, straight away.

Nota l'arrivo di Ben e viene a salutarlo. Si stringono la mano.

He notices Ben’s arrival and comes over to greet him. They shake hands.

Devi essere il signor Dast. Sei arrivato proprio in orario, ma potresti aspettare ancora un momento mentre finiamo questa scena? 

“You must be Mr Dast. You've arrived right on time, but could you wait a moment while we finish this scene?”

Nessun problema, aspetterò qui.

“No problem, I’ll wait over here.”

 La ringrazio! Ci vorranno approssimativamente altri 15 minuti, poi possiamo parlare. 

“Thank you! It'll take approximately another 15 minutes, then we can chat.”

Ben guarda con fascino la scena filmata. Un uomo vestito da postino è stato identificato come spia nemica. Indossa una maschera e parla in gergo. Dopo che viene sparato un colpo, lui cade a terra e rotola giù da un pendio. Tutti applaudono e Ben coglie l'occasione per parlare con il regista.

Ben watches with fascination as the scene is filmed. A man, who is dressed as a postman, has been identified as an enemy spy. He wears a mask and speaks in slang. After a shot is fired, he falls to the ground and rolls down a slope. Everybody applauds and Ben grabs the opportunity to speak to the director.

È stato davvero impressionante.

“That was very impressive.”

Un vero thriller, vero? Ma questa non è finzione, questo genere di cose è realmente accaduto, anche se il pubblico non lo scopre sempre. Che ci creda o no, questa spia si stava nascondendo in città 20 anni fa ed è stata rintracciata prima che potesse far esplodere questo quartiere con una bomba. 

“A real thriller, isn’t it? But this isn't fiction, things like these really happened, although the public doesn’t always learn about them. Believe it or not, this spy was indeed in hiding in town 20 years ago and was hunted down before he could blow up this block with a bomb.”

È scioccante! Perché dovrebbe bombardare degli alloggi popolari?

“That's shocking! Why would he want to bomb social housing?”

“In questo quartiere, c'era un negozio di beneficenza ma anche un laboratorio militare. Degli scienziati si sono incontrati segretamente lì e hanno lavorato alla loro nuova invenzione nel campo dell'ingegneria meccanica. Passo dopo passo, hanno lavorato sulla riproduzione di un satellite che poteva essere usato come arma. Hanno smesso di lavorare qui dopo che un lavoratore corrotto ha condiviso informazioni riservate con la stampa. Successivamente, ci fu un'ondata di accuse e fu ordinata una revisione completa. "

“In this block, there was a charity shop but also a military laboratory. Scientists secretly met there and worked on their new invention in engineering. Step by step, they worked on the reproduction of a satellite which could be used as a weapon. They ceased work here after a corrupt worker shared confidential information with the press. After that, there was a wave of accusations and a full review was ordered.”

“Mi sembra fantascienza. Che assurdità! "

“That sounds like science fiction to me. What nonsense!”

“Molte di queste cose sono nascoste al pubblico. Ci sono allusioni ma di solito passano inosservate, altrimenti sarebbe stato un grande scandalo. "

“A lot of these things are hidden from the public. There are hints but they usually go unnoticed, or else it would've been a big scandal.”
