The Zoo

O diretor da escola de Chris organizou uma excursão para estudantes de idade entre oito e treze anos. Eles vão a um zoológico que fica a trinta quilômetros de distância. Seus professores de biologia e história já estão esperando por eles no ponto de ônibus. É uma aventura para os quarenta alunos que estão felizes por não estarem na sala de aula.

The headteacher at Chris' school has organised a day trip for the schoolchildren aged eight to thirteen. They go to a zoo which is thirty kilometres away. Their biology and history teachers are already waiting for them at the bus stop. It is an adventure for the forty pupils who are happy to not be in their classroom.

Os professores verificam o nome de cada criança em sua lista. Estava muito nublado, mas agora não há mais neblina e está apenas um pouco nublado.

The teachers tick off the name of each child on their list. It was very foggy, but now the fog is gone and it's only a bit cloudy.

Eles chegam ao estacionamento do zoológico. Os professores entregam ao vendedor um envelope com seus ingressos.

They arrive at the car park of the zoo. The teachers give the salesperson an envelope with their tickets.

As crianças veem ursos, elefantes, macacos, leões, tigres e girafas. Então eles vão para as gaiolas dos pássaros e Chris gosta da grande águia.

The kids see the bears, elephants, monkeys, lions, tigers and giraffes. Then they go to the bird cages and Chris likes the large eagle.

Na hora do almoço, as crianças querem lanches. Há um pequeno restaurante que oferece refrescos e pratos de massa. Os professores pedem macarrão com molho de creme, cogumelos e molho de cebola. Não há outros clientes no restaurante e o chef vem à mesa para uma conversa.

At lunchtime, the children want some snacks. There is a little restaurant which offers refreshments and pasta dishes. The teachers order pasta with cream, mushroom and onion sauce. There are no other customers in the restaurant and the chef comes over to their table for a chat.

“Hoje o restaurante está vazio, mas nos fins de semana servimos noventa refeições por hora. Eu vendo vários quilos de bife todos os dias. "

“Today the restaurant is empty, but on the weekends we are serving ninety meals per hour. I sell several kilos of steak every day.”

Depois do almoço, as crianças brincam no parquinho.

After lunch, the children play at the playground.

Depois, eles vão para outra parte do zoológico para acariciar os animais menores, como pôneis e coelhos. Um guarda do zoológico pede que eles fiquem quietos perto dos animais.

Then they go to another part of the zoo to pet the smaller animals, such as ponies and rabbits. A zoo keeper tells them to keep quiet close to the animals.

Algumas garotas pedem permissão para montar um burro. Uma das meninas cai na terra.

A couple of girls have asked for permission to ride on a donkey. One of the girls falls down into the dirt.

Depois de um tempo, o professor diz a eles:

After some time, the teacher tells them:

“Eu receio que tenhamos que ir diretamente para o ônibus, está ficando tarde. O motorista já está atrás do volante e corre o risco de levar uma multa se não sair agora."

“I am afraid we have to go directly to the bus, it is getting late. The driver is already behind the wheel and might get a fine if he doesn’t depart now.”
