D4 The festival

Ben et Marc pensent qu'ils méritent une récompense et ils ont acheté des billets pour un festival de musique. Pendant le trajet, ils voient un joli paysage avec des douzaines de chèvres et de veaux dans les champs. Ils dépassent un tracteur sur une voie étroite. 

Ben and Marc think that they deserve a reward and have bought tickets for a music festival. On the drive there, they see a beautiful landscape with dozens of goats and calves in the fields. They overtake a tractor on a narrow lane.

Ils voient aussi de magnifiques châteaux historiques sur la route. Ils quittent la route principale lorsqu'ils voient le panneau indiquant l'ancien temple où se déroule le festival. Ils ont réservé un espace et s'arrêtent au panneau d'affichage à l'entrée pour le localiser.

They also see magnificent ancient castles on the route. They exit the main road when they see the signpost to the old temple, where the festival is taking place. They have reserved a camping space and stop at the message board at the entrance to locate it.

Le sol est humide et il est difficile de planter leur tente dans la boue. Marc attache les cordes à un morceau de métal.

The soil is wet and it is difficult to pitch their tent in the mud. Marc fastens the ropes with a piece of metal.

« Ça a toujours l’air bizarre - je pense qu’ils ont omis certaines étapes dans le manuel. Il nous reste encore des composants. Ne peuvent-ils pas le simplifier ? On n'est pas tous des génies. »

“It still looks bizarre - I think they omitted some steps in the manual. We still have some components left. Could they not have simplified this? Not everybody is a genius.”

« Nous avons juste perdu la main avec ça. Sinon, nous pouvons aussi dormir dans la voiture. »

“We're just out of practice. Alternatively, we can also sleep in the car.”

« Il va faire inconfortablement chaud, je l’éviterais à tout prix. »

“It will be uncomfortably hot in there, and I want to avoid that at all costs.”

« De toute façon, nous devons être courageux maintenant. Nous nous sommes mis dans ces difficultés. Dormir sur le sol rugueux sera douloureux. »

“Either way, we need to be brave now. Sleeping on the rough ground is going to be painful but we're the ones who got ourselves into these difficulties.”

« Il semble que les filles avaient raison dans un sens. Elles nous ont tellement gâtés que nous ne pouvons plus le supporter. »

“It appears that the girls were right in a way. They've spoilt us so much that we can’t take this anymore.”

« C’est bien qu’elles ne soient pas ici maintenant. Elles n’arrêteraient pas de faire des blagues. »

“It’s good that they're not here now, they’d never stop making jokes about this.”

« Elles auraient probablement fait une réservation dans un hôtel ici. Nous pourrions admettre notre défaite, prendre une douche rafraîchissante et nous faufiler sous les duvets avec elles.»

“They’d probably have made a booking in a nearby hotel. We would have been able to admit defeat, have a refreshing shower and crawl under the down duvets with them.”

« Arrête de rêvasser ! C’est notre week-end de mecs ! Et je veux des cochonneries et de la bière. »

“Stop daydreaming! This is our guys' weekend! And I want junk food and beer.”

Quand ils vont au kiosque, Marc rencontre accidentellement son ancienne petite amie et voit qu'elle est enceinte. C'est une situation délicate de la voir soudainement pour la première fois depuis la rupture. Il se souvient de sa jalousie quand elle l'a quitté pour son rival.

As they walk to the kiosk, Marc accidentally meets his ex-girlfriend and sees that she is pregnant. It is an awkward situation to suddenly see her for the first time since their separation. He remembers the jealousy he felt when she left him for his rival.

« Je ne m'attendais pas à te voir ici, Emma. »

“I didn't expect to see you here, Emma.”

« À la maison, je m'ennuyais à mourir. Je suis donc venu ici avec mon beau-frère. »

“I was bored to death at home so I came here with my brother-in-law.”

« À mon avis, tu devrais rester chez toi dans ton état. Et s'il y a une urgence ? »

“In my view you should stay at home in your condition. What if there's an emergency?”

« Je me sens seule à la maison et je veux m'amuser avant de devenir mère célibataire. »

“I'm lonely at home and I want to have some fun before I become a single mother.”

« Tu n’es pas mariée ? » Marc est choqué. 

“Are you not married?” Marc is shocked.

« Non ! Et j'en ai marre de tes questions. » Emma dit en colère.

“No! And I'm tired of your questions,” Emma says angrily.

Ben voit à quel point Emma réagit de manière irritable et tente de prévenir une dispute entre les deux. 

Ben sees how sensitively Emma reacts and tries to avoid a fight between the two.

« Cherchons un magasin pour acheter des piles. Les DJ commenceront bientôt et nous en avons besoin pour nos lampes ce soir. »

“Let's search for a shop where we can buy some batteries. The DJs will be starting soon and we need batteries for our lamps tonight.”

Marc regarde Ben et est distrait. Emma se retourne et s'en va.

Marc looks over to Ben and gets distracted. Emma turns around and walks away.

« Tu ne rate jamais une occasion d'être grosier avec Emma, ​​n'est-ce pas ? »

“You never miss a chance to be rude to Emma, do you?”

« Elle est vraiment incapable d’être mère. Elle est totalement égoïste. Pourquoi n'a-t-elle pas avorté ? »

“She's really unfit to be a mother. She's so utterly selfish. Why did she not have an abortion?”

« Ne commence pas cette discussion avec moi maintenant. C'est son choix et tu dois le respecter. Elle est intelligente et indépendante et parfaitement capable d’être mère. Tu devrais lui souhaiter bonne chance et ne pas te disputer avec elle. »

“Don't start this discussion with me now. It's her choice and you have to respect that. She's smart and independent and perfectly capable of being a mother. You should wish her luck and not argue with her.”

« Je sais que cela ne sert à rien, mais elle m'a brisé le cœur. Ça me hante toujours, c’est pour ca que j’ai flippé. »

“I know it's pointless but she broke my heart. It still haunts me, that’s why I freaked out.”

« Pas de soucis, je sais à quel point tu étais tombé amoureux d'elle. »

“No worries, I know how badly you had fallen for her.”
